Continuous loop or breaker
Both come ready to fit, made to your chain drop. The right one depends on your drive.
Continuous loop chain
One unbroken loop, ready to fit. For child safety, fit it with a chain retainer, or use it with a PullAway drive.
- Suits 1:1 and 1:4 drives
- Standard drives need a chain retainer (P-clip or D-clip)
- PullAway drives need nothing extra
Breaker chain
A loop with a chain breaker that pulls apart under pressure. A simple child safety measure.
- Only suits 1:1 drives
- Not for 1:4 drives: the breaker can't go around the drive cog to do a full lift
- Not needed with a PullAway drive

Keep chains out of reach
A chain retainer holds the loop tight to the wall or frame, so it can’t form a hazard. Choose screw-on clips, or adhesive clips with no drilling.
Screw-on P-clips and D-clips
A strong, simple fixing for most walls and frames. Screw the clip in place and slot the chain in.
EasyCleat adhesive P-clips and D-clips
No screws needed. Apply the adhesive pad to the clip, remove the protective layer, and press it onto a clean, smooth surface.

Most chain is ordered as a ready-to-fit continuous loop or breaker chain, made to your chain drop. A loop hangs down on both sides, so 1m of chain gives a 0.5m drop. Prefer a single length? Just ask when you order.
We don’t make custom white plastic loops. Choose the nearest pre-made drop: 500mm, 750mm, 1000mm, 1250mm, 1500mm, 2000mm, 2500mm or 3000mm. White plastic chain is also available in 200m rolls.
A continuous loop chain is one unbroken loop, ready to fit. A breaker chain has a connector that pulls apart under pressure, as a child safety measure.
No. A 1:4 drive is geared, so the breaker can’t go around the drive cog to do a full lift. Use a continuous loop chain with a chain retainer instead.
No. The PullAway cog releases when force is applied to the chain, which acts as the child safety measure. So you don’t need a breaker chain or chain retainer for compliance.
Screw-on P-clips and D-clips suit most surfaces. EasyCleat adhesive P-clips and D-clips need no drilling, and suit smooth surfaces like PVC and smooth tiles. They aren’t suitable for painted or textured surfaces.
White plastic comes in 200m rolls. Satin Nickel, Grey Nickel, Black Nickel, Raw Brass, Antique Brass, Matte Black Metal and Matte White Metal come in 150m rolls. Bronze and Copper come in 125m rolls.
